IHG Hotels & Resorts announced the first destination in the Americas for the “reimagined” Regent Hotels & Resorts. The property, scheduled to open late this year. will be the Regent Santa Monica Beach, IHG acquired a majority stake in the Regent brand in 2018. Regent has had hotels in the US in the past when it was under different ownership. The Santa Monica hotel, formerly a Loews, will undergo an extensive renovation before reopening.

Julienne Smith, chief development officer, Americas, for IHG, said that more than five decades ago, Regent “changed the face of luxury hospitality and set the new standard through innovation, extraordinary views, landmark destinations and exceptional service.”

IHG, she said, is redefining what it means to be a luxury hotel “by combining Regent’s renowned legacy with the expertise of IHG Hotels & Resorts.” Regent Santa Monica Beach is “the start of a bright future for the brand in the Americas,” said Smith, emphasizing IHG’s strategic focus on luxury and lifestyle growth globally.
