Navan, a provider of corporate travel management and expense solutions, has introduced Train v Plane: a new sustainability feature that increases the visibility of environmentally friendly travel options. The feature makes decisions about sustainable travel – particularly rail travel in Europe – a more integrated part of the booking process.

With the return of travel, EU-origin rail bookings in Europe has seen a steady increase, according to Navan data, rising 6 percent year over year, from 34 percent to 40 percent since Q1 2022. Within France, domestic rail bookings have increased by 54 percent since September 2022, most notably on routes impacted by that country’s short-haul flight ban.

In addition, rail travel is frequently the more economical choice for business travel, saving more than $100 on average per booking, Navan says.
