Amazon Echo speakers will enable guests to request hotel services and information >>

Guests at select Marriott hotels will be able to use Amazon Echo speakers and a new product called Alexa for Hospitality to request hotel services like housekeeping, to call the concierge and to request information. The tool can also be configured to provide controls for in-room needs like blinds and thermostat control; guests can also ask Alexa to play music. Jennifer Hsieh, vice president customer experience innovation at Marriott, said that many guests use voice technology in their homes, and Marriott wanted to extend that convenience to them on the road. Hsieh said the company will be evaluating guest feedback and adoption to inform how the skills, features and functionality will be offered through Alexa in the hotels. Soon, Alexa for Hospitality will support the ability for Amazon customers to temporarily connect their Amazon account to the Alexa-enabled device in their room.
