With the equipment, the airline will significantly expand its premium offering at its southern Germany hub, especially with additional seats in Business Class and First Class. With 509 seats, the A380 offers four classes of travel: eight seats in First Class, 78 seats in Business Class, 52 seats in Premium Economy and 371 seats in Economy Class.

Lufthansa has a fleet of 14 Airbus A380-800s. During the pandemic, the carrier stored its A380s in the desert and was close to retiring them for good last year, but the decision was made to bring them back in time for the 2023 summer season as travel demand peaks. The carrier said delivery of other aircraft has been delayed.
