São Paulo — Rosewood São Paulo has opened in the heart of the city as part of the Cidade Matarazzo, a complex of early 20th-century buildings that have been transformed into residences, retail and entertainment venues. The property has 160 hotel rooms, as well as 100 Private Rosewood Suites available for purchase. The hotel has 22,000 square feet of meeting space, free WiFi and two pools.

Johor Bahru, Malaysia — The Holiday Inn Express & Suites Johor Bahru has opened, the first for the brand in Malaysia. Johor Bahru is a hub for Iskandar Malaysia, a southern economic corridor earmarked for expansion. It is close to the Persada International Convention Center and a 30-minute drive from Senai International Airport. The 203-room property offers free WiFi and breakfast, meeting space for up 120 people, a fitness center and a self-serve laundry room.

Almaty, Kazakhstan — The 166-room Ibis Almaty Jetisu has opened on the site of one of the oldest hotels in Kazakhstan following a large-scale reconstruction of the building, according to Accor, which operates the Ibis brand. In addition to the hotel, the complex includes two restaurants, a spa and a shopping center. Ibis Almaty Jetisu is a part of Accor’s first dual-branded hotel in Kazakhstan, with Novotel Living Almaty Jetisu set to open as part of the complex in the first quarter of 2022. With that opening, guests of the hotels will have access to conference facilities, a fitness center and sauna, as well as laundry and parking services.

Shenzhen, China — The 178-room Mandarin Oriental Shenzhen is scheduled to open on Jan. 20. The hotel is located on the upper floors of a new 79-story building in the Futian business district. Every room has views of the cityscape, Lotus Hill Park, Bijia Mountain Park and Shenzhen Bay. The Mandarin Club, located on the 78th floor, provides a private lounge experience for guests, with service and dining in an intimate setting. The Spa offers an extensive range of wellness and beauty therapies, a fitness center and an indoor pool. The hotel has eight restaurants and bars.

Ashburn, Va. — The 125-room Tru by Hilton has opened in the heart of downtown. Rooms feature mobile desks, large bathrooms and the latest in-room entertainment. Amenities include free breakfast and WiFi; a large lobby for relaxing or working; a fitness center; and a 24/7 Eat & Sip market with snacks and drinks.
