Jewel Changi Airport in Singapore will open on Wednesday, April 17 as an extension of the existing Changi Airport. The 1,460,000-square-foot complex was designed by famed architect Moshe Safdie to be a destination in itself. Features include the world’s tallest indoor waterfall,  which greets visitors as they enter the facility; multiple play attractions; extensive retail; and the first Yotel property in Asia. Changi Airport’s existing terminals house 400 retailers and 140 food and beverage outlets.

With Jewel, another 280 shops and dining outlets are being added. And the addition of the 130-room Yotel will bring the total number of rooms at the airport to 910. Hung Jean, chief executive of Jewel Changi Airport, said: “The unique proposition of world-class shopping and dining, seamlessly integrated with lush greenery, fulfills the needs of increasingly discerning travelers for a meaningful and experiential journey, even for brief layovers.”
