JetBlue has eliminated change fees for almost all fares permanently, becoming the last of the major US Airlines to do so. The policy will apply to all fares except Blue Basic, the basic economy ticket. There is an exception of a $75 fee for changes made on the day of travel. The carrier also announced that beginning July 20 it will guarantee overhead bin space for all passengers except for Blue Basic customers who will not be allowed to use overhead bin space. If the carrier can’t make good on the promise, it will give travelers a $25 credit. Joanna Geraghty, president, said in a note to employees that currently the Blue and Blue Basic fares are very similar and there was a need to differentiate the two. There is an exception for changes made for all fares on the day of travel when there will be a fee of $75 beginning April 1. That fee will be $100 for Blue Basic ticket holders and $200 for Blue Basic passengers on South American routes.
