IHG (InterContinental Hotels Group) began extending dynamically priced Reward Nights in its IHG Rewards Club loyalty program to more hotels around the world, building on what the company calls a successful launch in the Greater China region last month. With this update, the number of points required for members to redeem a Reward Night will now flex up and down, just like cash rates for room bookings. During the China test, said the company, more than 65% of hotels rolled out with a reduction of points necessary to redeem Reward Nights. Also, due to the pandemic, IHG has adjusted its Elite criteria for 2020 to reduce the requirements and extend status through January 2022. Points never expire for members with Elite status and expiration dates have been extended for all members.
