Hyatt has launched Caption by Hyatt, a lifestyle lodging brand aimed at “inspiring connections between people.” The new product fits within the select service category and aims to bring people closer together by allowing them to work, eat or socialize in flexible communal spaces that encourage conversations and connections. Properties will feature rooms and common areas that are flexibly designed in order to allow guests to move things around and make their own space for lounging and small events.


Caption will feature food and beverage designed and curated in partnership with Danny Meyer’s Union Square Hospitality Group. The concept will be a mash-up of café, market and bar that will allow guests and locals to get food and drinks any time of day. Each property will have between 150 and 250 rooms, with each room having a seating area for work or play, as well as bathroom counter space. No locations have been announced, but the focus will be on urban and downtown cores, dense suburban markets, mixed-use lifestyle developments and emerging urban neighborhoods.
