The Global Business Travel Association (GBTA) has rescheduled its annual convention to Nov. 7-11 in Denver. The event had been set for July 25-29 but was postponed because of the coronavirus crisis. The conference typically brings together 7,000 business travel professionals from more than 50 countries. Scott Solombrino, COO and executive director, said the convention had to be postponed for the first time in GBTA’s 52-year history because of “unprecedented times.” He said the association is hopeful the pandemic will subside on a global level and that travel managers and sponsors will be able to meet in November “to determine how best to revive the industry.” Solombrino said the event was rescheduled after several weeks of discussing options with officials at the Denver Convention Center. If the pandemic has not passed within the next few months, he said, “we may need to push the convention back further.”
