FlightGlobal Incorporating Flightstats, an aviation data services company, named Delta Air Lines as the world’s most on-time airline in the 9th Annual Airline OPS (On-Time Performance Service) Awards. Delta is the first US-based carrier to win in the global airline category. Iberia was awarded the world’s most on-time global airline network (which includes the system of flights marketed by Iberia and operated by the carrier and its airline partners). Delta achieved an 85.9 percent on-time percentage and the Iberia system 89 percent, according to FlightGlobal. During a nine-day period in November, including the Thanksgiving holiday, Delta cancelled only one of 23,485 flights. Japan Air Lines was named second in the global airline category, followed by ANA, Qatar and SAS. The ratings are determined from tracking about 99,000 flights per day, operated and serviced by thousands of airlines and airports. The on-time metric is determined by flights arriving at their gates within 14 minutes of the scheduled arrival time.
