Delta Air Lines announced it will cap the number of first class seats at 50% and for other cabins at 60% through June 30. The window and aisle seats being blocked will be on aircraft configured with 1x2, 2x2 and 2x3 seating. Seat blocks for narrow-body and regional jet aircraft will launch this week; blocks for the two-seat sections of wide-body aircraft will start in the coming weeks. The goal, said the carrier, is to reduce the overall number of customers in every cabin across the fleet. Last month, Delta stopped selling all middle seats and paused automatic, advance complimentary upgrades for high-status loyalty program members, When booking a future seat selection via the Fly Delta app or online, blocked seats will be shown as unavailable or not assignable. Customers who prefer to be seated directly next to their travel companions or who need additional assistance are encouraged to talk to an agent upon arriving at the gate.
