U.S. Travel Association research shows economy boosting overall domestic travel, cautions on international >>

Growth in business travel may soon outpace growth in leisure travel in the US, according to the U.S. Travel Association. David Huether, U.S. Travel’s senior vice president for research, said business travel has been on an upward trajectory in 2018, and this is expected to continue throughout the rest of the year. He added, “This is solid evidence that businesses are optimistic in the current economic environment and are buoyed by the recent tax legislation.” According to the association’s Leading Travel Index, domestic travel overall is expected to increase by about 2.5 percent in the next six months. However, the association warned, mounting trade tensions are working against America’s pursuit of an increased share in the global travel market.
