ARC Reports Increase in Airline Ticket Sales for April

Airlines Reporting Corp. (ARC) announced that the consolidated dollar value of airline tickets sold in April 2019 by US-based travel agencies increased 6 percent compared with April 2018, totaling $9 billion vs. $8.5 billion. The average US roundtrip ticket price was $499, virtually flat when compared with April 2018. The total number of passenger trips settled by ARC for US travel agencies increased 4 percent to 27,721,382 compared with 26,636,678 in April 2018. US domestic trips increased 4.2 percent while international passenger trips grew 3.9 percent. Electronic Miscellaneous Document (EMD) sales in April 2019 totaled $8.5 million, a 23.7 percent increase compared with the same period in 2018. EMD transactions decreased by 4 percent year-over-year. EMD sales include fees for products and services such as upgraded seats, checked luggage, etc.
