Airlines Reporting Corp. (ARC) announced today that the consolidated dollar value of airline tickets sold in May 2019 by U.S.-based travel agencies increased 5 percent compared with May 2018, totaling $9.2 billion vs. $8.8 billion. The average US roundtrip ticket price was $511 vs. $498 in May 2018. The total number of passenger trips settled by ARC for US travel agencies increased 3.5 percent to 27,417,469 compared with 26,498,212 in May 2018. US domestic trips increased 2.7 percent while international passenger trips grew 4.7 percent. Electronic Miscellaneous Document (EMD) sales in May 2019 totaled $7.4 million, a 16 percent decrease compared with the same period in 2018. EMD transactions increased 3.4 percent year over year. EMD sales include fees for products and services such as upgraded seats, checked luggage, an unaccompanied minor, pet-in-cabin, etc.
