Amtrak customers can now easily see how full their reserved train will be (i.e. 20% full) on the rail line’s website and mobile app. Since bookings are limited on most trains to allow for physical distancing, the quantity of customers traveling is indicated based on the reduced number of seats available. The percentage is displayed in real time when customers search for their train. In addition to the capacity indicator, Amtrak is now also offering seamless gate service where app users can receive gate and track information via push notifications at select stations; and contact-free travel with booking and boarding done from the app. Bill Flynn, CEO, said that “prioritizing health and safety, we continue to provide customers with new, innovative measures that promote physical distancing and contactless travel.”
