American Airlines said it expects to fly more than 90% of its domestic seat capacity this summer compared with the same period in 2019 due to a strong rebound in bookings. The carrier also said it would use 80% of its international seat capacity this summer compared with 2019 levels. American said it plans to operate more than 150 new routes this year, with the emphasis on leisure. Brian Znotins, vice president of network planning, said in a statement that “customers are telling us they’re eager to get back to travel.” The expansion comes as American announced it was cash-flow positive for March on an adjusted basis, the first time the airline has been cash-flow positive since the pandemic began.
