American Airlines, AMEX GBT and Amadeus Roll Out NDC Bookings

American Airlines, American Express Global Business Travel and Amadeus have begun processing live bookings using American’s NDC-enabled content with American Express GBT leveraging the new Amadeus Travel API. The announcement is an important step aiming to exercise the API’s full functionality of end-to-end booking flow and servicing, including cancellations, exchanges and ancillaries, when capabilities reach scalable production levels.
The ability to offer end-to-end workflow for NDC-enabled content underscores the value of industry standards to reach the point where NDC bookings can be shopped, booked and serviced at scale and match current performance levels.
“As we continue to progress toward delivering on our commitment to make NDC work for all stakeholders, we believe that standardization across the industry is the single most important factor in easing implementation, broadening adoption, and creating a technical environment where airlines can explore new types of content, and travelers can readily consume it,” said Gianni Pisanello, vice president of the NDC [X] program at Amadeus. NDC [X] is an Amadeus initiative designed to drive the industrialization of IATA’s NDC standard and to ensure it works for all travel players.
