Airlines Reporting Corporation said that air tickets sold for the seven days ending May 24 were down 85.2% compared with the same week the previous year, while the value of the tickets was down 91.1% -- both showing slight improvement over previous weeks. The figures represent sales generated by US travel agencies and processed through the ARC settlement system. For the year, ticket sales were down 46.9% and value off by 52.9%. Corporates sales were down 93.3% for the week, also a slight improvement with those year-to-date sales down 49.9%. Results are based on data from 11,761 US retail and corporate travel agency locations, and online travel agencies. Results do not include sales of tickets purchased directly from airlines and are not net of refunds or exchanges. Total sales are equal to the amount paid for a ticket, which includes taxes and fees.
