Air Ticket Sales for Corporate Travel Agencies Fell Nearly 90% Last Week

Total air tickets sold in the week ending March 22 by US-based travel agencies with at least 70% self-reported corporate and government business fell nearly 90% year-over-year, according to Airlines Reporting Corp. (ARC). Total tickets sold and the total consolidated dollar value of tickets sold by US-based travel agencies fell 80% and 63.2%, year-over-year, respectively. Last week’s average ticket price was $336, down 7.6% from 2019. The decline in ticket sales and total consolidated dollar value has been falling precipitously. For the week ending March 15, total tickets sold and the total consolidated dollar value of tickets sold by U.S.-based travel agencies fell 45.2% and 43.6% year-over-year, respectively. For the week ending March 8, total tickets sold and the total consolidated dollar value of tickets sold declined 25.5 % and 22.2% year-over-year, respectively. For the week before that, total tickets sold and the total consolidated dollar value of tickets sold fell 15.5% and 8.9% year-over-year, respectively.
