Accor has introduced Emblems Collection, a global portfolio of boutique hotels and luxury resorts. The brand is launching with the Guiyang Art Centre Hotel in China’s Guizhou province, set to open in December 2022. Emblems is expected to grow to 60 properties by 2030. Sébastien Bazin, CEO of Accor, said the properties in the new group will be those sought out by travelers who appreciate high-end, boutique-style experiences, as well as by hoteliers “who cherish the independent brands they’ve built while desiring the benefits that come with a global partner.” Accor already has the MGallery Hotel Collection under its umbrella, but Emblems Collection hotel members will be more upscale and are “emblematic” of their designers, demographics or destinations. The new brand, according to an announcement, will encourage its hotels to retain their unique identities, which is important to hoteliers who have invested in creating a certain style for their hotel and/or market.
