Accor has launched a new economy segment brand, Greet. The operators claim the new flag is a sustainable tourism product that combines environmental considerations with “a socially responsible approach for travelers seeking authenticity.” According to Accor, the new brand was created in response to traveler demands for a high quality and affordable hotel experience while simultaneously enabling them “to add meaning to their purchase and reduce their impact on the planet.” While each property will be different, commonalities will include a logo in the common areas and insuring that 20 percent of rooms can accommodate between four and six people. Hotel owners will be encouraged to salvage objects via secondhand networks or from eco-responsible suppliers and to upcycle decorative items. Accor hopes to open 300 Greet hotels throughout Europe by 2030.
