Carriers that are members of Airlines for America (A4A), the industry trade organization, will voluntarily pledge to refund tickets for any passengers found to have an elevated temperature -- as defined by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) guidelines – during a screening process conducted by federal authorities prior to travel. Last month, A4A and its members announced they are supporting TSA temperature screening for travelers and customer-facing employees as long as necessary during the pandemic. The association said temperature checks will provide additional public confidence that is critical to relaunching air travel and the nation’s economy. As all screening processes for the traveling public are the responsibility of the US government, said a statement, having temperature checks performed by the TSA will ensure that procedures are standardized, providing consistency across airports.
