The Parking Spot, which calls itself the largest owner and operator of parking properties near airports, and Travelport, a travel commerce platform, have partnered to make The Parking Spot’s inventory of airport parking spaces directly available to travel professionals using Travelport Smartpoint. Once travel managers and travel agents install The Parking Spot plug-in to Smartpoint, they can select and reserve airport parking during the booking process. Ed Orkland, vice president of field sales for The Parking Spot, said the arrangement enables his company to reach a larger audience of travel managers and agents and their customers. Lynn Smith, director of strategic business development for Travelport, said the tool offers travel professionals a competitive advantage in offering clients parking as part of a fully integrated trip solution. The Parking Spot has 39 locations at 22 major US airports.
