Advocacy group provides framework for rebuilding industry >>

Travel Again, a new global travel advocacy organization, has released a plan that provides a framework for safely rebuilding the travel industry, along with specific priorities and recommendations. The plan reflects a months-long process involving the organization’s policy advisors, who include 25 senior leaders representing various sectors of the travel industry, as well as input from leading scientists and policy experts. Mike McCormick, co-founder, said that in order for a sustainable recovery process to begin, issues around traveler confidence must be addressed on a pan-industry, global level. The recovery framework includes managing trip risk (sharing best practices and standards and increasing cross-border cooperation on COVID-related policy); standardizing travel requirements for this crisis and long-term prevention planning; and restoring confidence in traveling through a common set of measurements, messaging and priorities. Based on those goals, Travel Again is recommending: a three-test protocol for all travels, enforcement of safe travel procedures, a pathway to quarantine-free travel requirements globally, digital health passports, safe travel corridors, positive messaging about travel recovery, building a global advocacy clearinghouse entity and appointing a “travel czar” within the Biden administration.
