The State Department has issued its highest-level travel advisory, warning Americans against international travel to any country as the world races to contain the spread of the coronavirus. The Level 4: Do Not Travel warning, which has been used by the department sparingly in recent years to advise against traveling to war zones, or nations experiencing disease or financial crises, cautions US citizens to avoid “all international travel due to the global impact of COVID-19.” The department’s travel website warns: “If you choose to travel internationally, your travel plans may be severely disrupted, and you may be forced to remain outside of the United States for an indefinite time frame.”
