Short’s Travel Management (STM) has released an update to its online booking tool, Short’s Travel Online (STO), which it said is the first online booking tool to include the display of Lumo’s flight delay and missed-connection risk indexes for all flights returned in air search. Lumo is a predictive technology company that works with travel companies to proactively manage airline delays. Lumo’s advanced machine learning algorithms, according to STM, consider numerous factors – weather, air traffic control, network propagation, current delays, history, etc. – to deliver detailed probabilities for flight delays months, weeks, days and hours ahead of time, helping travelers to proactively select a flight with greater peace of mind and likelihood to arrive in time for important events. Kevin Broughton, CIO of STM, said the company knows “how much travelers value the predictions Lumo could deliver.”
