OpenTable, part of The Priceline Group, is piloting OpenTable Tab, a new payment option at more than 75 restaurants in Los Angeles. Plans call for the program to be introduced in more US cities later this year.
OpenTable Tab allows diners to simply tap the Tab feature when they book their reservation at participating restaurants. When they’re at the restaurant and ready to leave – or at any time during their meal – diners can let their server know they want to put their meal on their OpenTable Tab and then get up and go whenever they're ready.
“OpenTable Tab is designed to reinvent and simplify the way diners pay at restaurants and enhance the overall dining experience," said Catherine Porter, SVP of strategy and business development at OpenTable. “By removing the cumbersome and time-consuming credit card swap, diners who use OpenTable Tab can focus on enjoying their fantastic meal and our restaurant partners can focus on delivering amazing hospitality."
