InterContinental Hotels Group named Jamie Cole as senior vice president of global channels, charged with maximizing revenue delivery across all customer touch points and creating a more seamless experience for customers. He joins IHG from Mandarin Oriental, where he most recently led digital and e-commerce. Prior to that he ran a consulting business serving hospitality and travel clients and has also held leadership roles at Travelport, Travelocity and Hilton Worldwide.
American Express Global Business Travel has appointed Margaret Bowler as director, global hotel strategy, based in London. She was with Hogg Robinson Group for more than 18 years, serving as global director of hotel relations. Hogg Robinson was acquired by American Express last year.
Six Senses Hotels Resorts Spas has named Guy Heywood as COO, following the company’s recent acquisition by InterContinental Hotels Group. He has been serving as COO for Alila Hotels & Resorts, a position he held for the past eight years. He has more than 30 years of experience in the international hotel and tourism industry.
Travel and Transport said that former president and CEO Bill Tech died at the age of 70. He joined the company in 1987 and became president and CEO in 1998. He remained CEO until December 2014, then became chairman of the board. He oversaw tremendous growth, including a nearly 300 percent increase in employees and the complete transfer of ownership to employees, which he called his proudest achievement with the company. Tech was also chairman of Radius, the international travel management network, for more than 10 years.
