Southwest Airlines announced multiple promotions, including the naming of Alan Kasher to executive vice president of daily operations; he has been serving as senior vice president of air operations. A pilot, he joined the airline more than 20 years ago. The carrier also promoted Sam Ford to vice president-operational strategy and performance. He started at Southwest in 2007 in financial performance and analysis and has served in several leadership positions, most recently as managing director-operational strategy and performance. Chris Johnson has been promoted to vice president-ground operations; he most recently served as managing director-ground operations. And Julia Landrum was promoted to managing director-financial planning and analysis. She has been a senior director in the financial planning and analysis department.

Starwood Capital Group has promoted Arash Azarbarzin to CEO of its subsidiary SH Hotels & Resorts. The company operates 1 Hotels, Baccarat Hotels and Treehouse Hotels. Azarbarzin replaces Starwood Capital chairman and CEO Barry Sternlicht, who will remain as chairman and continue to be involved with the organization. Azarbarzin has more than 30 years of industry experience, including leadership roles at St. Regis, W Hotels and Four Seasons and as a founding member of SBE hotel group.

Charlestowne Hotels has named Paul Stracey as director of operations, overseeing key properties within the management company’s portfolio of more than 50 hotels. He brings over 35 years of luxury hospitality experience to the role, most recently as managing director at Belmond Charleston Place, a position he held for 25 years. During his tenure at Charleston Place, Stracey was appointed North American managing director for Orient-Express (now Belmond).
