Madrid – The 175-room Thompson Madrid has opened, the first for the brand in Spain. The hotel is housed in two historic buildings on Calle De La Montera which connects with the city’s main square, Puerta del Sol. The hotel has three restaurants and six event spaces for up to 321 guests.
Bengaluru, India – The 154-room Ibis Bengaluru Hebbal has opened, the 21st Ibis hotel in the country. Located a 30-minute drive from International Airport Bengaluru Kempegowda, the property has a restaurant, bar, 24-hour fitness center, two boardrooms and several meeting rooms.
Spring, Texas – The 74-room SureStay Hotel by Best Western Spring North Houston has opened, featuring rooms with 42-inch flat-screen TVs, microwaves and mini-fridges. Amenities include free breakfast and WiFi, an outdoor pool and a business center.
Chicago – CitizenM Chicago Downtown is scheduled to open Sept. 21. The 280-room property sits within a 47-story tower that also includes 289 residential units and 25,000 square feet of retail space. All rooms feature extra-large king-sized beds, HD widescreen TV’s and super-fast WiFi. An iPad controls the room ambiance, including the blinds, temperature, TV and lights.
Washington DC – Salamander Washington DC has opened in what had been a Mandarin Oriental. The 373-room property is located on the city’s southwest waterfront. The hotel will “revitalize” its restaurant and will add other dining outlets. The property’s spa will be expanded and the club lounge, closed when the pandemic began, will be renovated and reopened as the Monument Club.
