South American carrier will be first from the continent to carry Finnish airline code while European carrier expands global presence >>
Finnair and LATAM Airlines Group, the largest airline holding group in Latin America, announced a codeshare agreement that will see the South American carrier’s code added to Finnair flights between Helsinki and five European hubs: London, Madrid, Barcelona, Paris and Milan. In the other direction, Finnair’s code will be added to LATAM flights crossing the Atlantic from LATAM’s hubs in Santiago and São Paulo.
LATAM will be the first South American airline to carry the Finnair code. For Finnair, according to an announcement, this agreement is a major milestone in expanding its global presence. The codeshare is applicable on services on or after Oct. 1. Soledad Berrios, director of strategic alliances at LATAM Airlines Group, said that as part of the carrier’s commitment to connecting Latin America with the world, “this new agreement will offer our passengers easier access to the exciting destinations in Finland via Helsinki.”
