Christmas Eve hotel occupancy in the US hit a record 43.9%, according to the latest research from STR.
Despite that, the industry performed worse for the week ending Dec. 24 than for the corresponding week in 2019. The results were as follows:
• Occupancy: 43.9% (down 9.7%)
• Average daily rate (ADR): $132.29 (up 2.3%)
• Revenue per available room (RevPAR): $58.04 (down 7.6%)The corresponding week in 2019 ended on Dec. 28, which brought performance up for that overall period.
Among the Top 25 Markets, Houston reported the highest occupancy increase over 2019 (up 3.4% to 43.1%).
Seattle posted the highest ADR lift over 2019 (up 19.7% to $130.07).
Miami saw the steepest declines from 2019 in ADR (down 26.2% to $225.08) and RevPAR (down 42.4% to $138.19).
