Amtrak has announced its summer schedule, featuring the most Acela frequencies since the onset of the pandemic and Northeast Regional departures nearing 80% of pre-pandemic service levels. The schedule reflects, according to a statement, increased demand for both business and leisure travel. Stephen Gardner, CEO, said the line is recruiting and training additional employees nationwide to accelerate its recovery and to support service growth. More than 1,500 employees have already been added this year, according to the statement. Among the services announced were:

  • 13 Northeast Regional roundtrips weekdays, 9 on Saturdays and 14 on Sundays between Washington DC and New York;
  • 8 Northeast Regional roundtrips weekdays, 8 on Saturdays and 9 on Sundays between Boston and New York;
  • 10 Northeast Regional roundtrips weekdays between Philadelphia and New York;
  • 10 Acela roundtrips weekdays, 4 on Saturdays and 6 on Sundays between Washington DC and New York;
  • 9 Acela roundtrips weekdays, 3 on Saturdays and 4 on Sundays between Boston and New York.
Amtrak said it anticipates the announcement of additional service for summer travel later this spring.
