Alaska Airlines is selling tickets for 18 daily nonstop flights between Paine Field-Snohomish County Airport in Everett, Wash., and eight West Coast cities. The first day of scheduled service is Feb. 11 from Paine, which has a new commercial airport terminal. According to the carrier, more than one million travelers who live north of Seattle will enjoy shorter commutes to Paine Field instead of heading farther south to Sea-Tac Airport. If Alaska gets government approvals for additional gate times, it would mean more frequencies to several previously announced destinations: Las Vegas; Los Angeles; Orange County, Calif.; Phoenix; Portland; San Diego; San Francisco; and San Jose. The all-jet service would be provided by Horizon Air flying the Embraer 175 aircraft featuring first class and premium class cabins. Alaska previously flew from Paine Field in the 1940s and 1950s.
