Air Canada Rouge, Air Canada’s low-cost subsidiary, has launched a transatlantic route from Montreal to Bucharest, with this service becoming the Romanian capital’s first North American connection in over 10 years. The route is served twice-weekly on the airline’s fleet of 767-300’s, featuring Premium Rouge and Economy Class service and is timed to optimize connectivity from across Air Canada’s network. Benjamin Smith, president, passenger airlines, said that Air Canada is the only North American airline flying to Romania, which had been the largest European market without transatlantic flights. The flight departs Montreal on Mondays and Thursdays and returns Tuesdays and Fridays. In 2018, Air Canada is launching 10 new destinations from Montreal: London, Windsor and Victoria in Canada; Tokyo-Narita; Phoenix, Pittsburgh and Baltimore; Dublin; Lisbon; and Bucharest.
